Hyperthermia Therapy

Hyperthermia Therapy uses controlled heating—locally, regionally, or systemically—to raise tissue temperatures (often between 40–44 °C) to enhance circulation, stimulate immune responses, and sensitize diseased cells to therapies. It’s used as an adjunct in cancer, chronic infections, autoimmune conditions, and chronic pain.

At GS Medical Services, we coordinate access to integrative and oncology clinics worldwide that offer cutting-edge hyperthermia technologies and personalized treatment protocols.

How Hyperthermia Works

  • Heat stress damages diseased cells’ structure and proteins while sparing healthy tissue. Heat shock proteins activate immune cells to target abnormal cells.

  • Increased blood flow and oxygenation improve delivery and effectiveness of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

  • Extracorporeal hyperthermia (e.g., EHP®) may raise blood temperature outside the body and return it warmed for systemic effects.

  • Session formats range from local (microwave/HIFU), regional (limb/organ), to whole-body (infrared chambers), all performed outpatient.

Indications & Clinical Applications

  • Oncology: Adjuvant to chemo/radiotherapy for various cancers—especially resistant or metastatic forms.

  • Chronic infections: Supports treatment of long COVID, Lyme disease by enhancing immune clearance.

  • Autoimmune/inflammatory: Conditions such as lupus, Crohn’s, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue benefit from immune modulation.

  • Chronic pain & musculoskeletal issues: Helps relax muscles, reduce pain, improve circulation.

Benefits

  • Enhances treatment outcomes by making targeted tissues more vulnerable to chemo and radiation.

  • Reduced side effects: Lower drug doses and selective heating minimize systemic toxicity.

  • Re-sensitizes resistant tumors increasing response in previously resistant cancers.

  • Pain relief: Provides relaxation and improved circulation in chronic pain states.

  • Immune activation & detox support: Heat stimulates natural immunity and may aid toxin elimination.

Safety & Potential Side Effects

  • Local hyperthermia: risk of burns, blistering, skin/muscle/nerve irritation.

  • Regional/whole-body hyperthermia: possible nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, fluid shifts, cardiovascular strain, clotting.

  • Rare but serious complications include organ stress or cardiovascular events—safe application requires precise temperature control and medical supervision.

Monitoring protocols, temperature management, and patient selection are essential to minimize risks.
